Energy Minister participates in first ministerial round table on energy, climate, sustainable development
ALGIERS- Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, will participate, Monday, through videoconference, in the work of the first ministerial round table organized by OPEC on energy, climate and sustainable development, according to a press release issued by the ministry today, Sunday.
According to the press release, the roundtable provides “a platform for discussion and exchange on the challenges and opportunities arising from implementing collective climate mitigation actions for oil-producing countries.”
The roundtable is also about “reaching a common understanding on ways and means to contribute to the global effort to counter the effects of climate change,” as well as “exchanging information on appropriate solutions and innovative mitigation techniques for greenhouse gas emissions for a prosperous and sustainable energy development.”
This meeting will also enable to “reach a common position by seeking a balanced global approach between the environment and development goals”, especially as it precedes the twenty-sixth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and some major global events related to the environment and energy.
